Export or restore a portable ZIP backup
Export local profile data to a ZIP or review an import before its deliberately destructive replacement of current local settings.
Before you start
- Open Settings → PORTABLE BACKUP on the TV.
- A TV-compatible document provider or file picker must be installed and enabled to choose where to save or open the ZIP.
Export a backup ZIP
Choose EXPORT BACKUP. In the system file picker choose a destination and save the suggested AppLaunchR-backup.zip file. Wait for the Backup saved confirmation, then keep the file somewhere safe.
The ZIP contains local profiles, language choice, slideshows, local wallpapers, fonts, and custom tile icons. It does not include installed apps, purchases, accounts, or cloud-linked assets.
Inspect a ZIP before restoring it
On the target TV choose CHOOSE BACKUP TO RESTORE and select the ZIP. The app displays BACKUP PREVIEW with profile, referenced-app, and media counts, warnings, and any missing assets.
Read the preview and warning list. If assets are missing, the restore action remains unavailable. Cancel with CANCEL RESTORE if this is not the backup you intend to use.
Confirm replacement only when ready
Restoring REPLACES all current local profiles and settings on this TV. Before applying, the app stores a pre-restore safety backup on this TV; it can be reviewed later with REVIEW PRE-RESTORE SAFETY BACKUP.
Only when the preview is the one you want and you accept replacing the current setup, choose CONFIRM OVERWRITE AND RESTORE. Wait for Restore complete. The confirmation is not a merge operation.
- A backup references apps but does not install them. Cloud assets, purchases, and accounts do not transfer; do not assume a restore will move Pro credentials or Studio content.
- If the file picker reports that no provider is installed, install or enable a TV-compatible document provider and retry. Keep an exported ZIP somewhere other than the TV too.
