Set up Fire TV Home and hold-Menu controls
Grant the one-time ADB permission, enable the service, then opt in to Home redirection and the independent hold-Menu shortcut.
Before you start
- Install and open TVApplaunchЯ on the Fire TV.
- Use a separate Android phone or computer on the same network to grant the one-time ADB permission. A Fire TV Stick cannot reliably grant this permission to itself.
Enable ADB debugging and find the TV address
On Fire TV open Settings → My Fire TV (or Device & Software) → Developer Options and turn ADB Debugging on. If Developer Options is missing, open About, select the Fire TV device name, press OK seven times, then return.
Find the Fire TV IP address under My Fire TV (or Device & Software) → About → Network. Connect the phone or computer to the same Wi-Fi network.
Connect from a separate device and grant permission
Connect an ADB client to the Fire TV IP on port 5555 and approve the debugging prompt on the TV. From an Android phone, use a trusted ADB client with a remote shell. From a computer, the Squiffix Desktop Bridge guide explains its local Bridge and Google Platform Tools setup.
Run this command in the phone remote shell, or in the computer Bridge without adding an adb shell prefix:
pm grant com.applaunchr.tvlauncher android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGSEnable the service, then choose Home and Menu separately
Return to TVApplaunchЯ → Settings → FIRE TV HOME & MENU. After the grant is detected, switch on the TVAPPLAUNCHЯ SERVICE toggle and wait until the screen reports SERVICE READY.
Turn on HOME BUTTON → TVAPPLAUNCHЯ to redirect when Amazon Home opens. Open another app and press Home to test it.
If you also want a shortcut, turn on HOLD MENU → TVAPPLAUNCHЯ separately and test by holding Menu on a remote that has that button. A short Menu press remains normal. One switch does not enable the other.
Keep the controls reversible and finish debugging
To return to normal buttons, open FIRE TV HOME & MENU and select TURN OFF HOME & MENU, or switch off the Home and Menu options individually. Turning off TVAPPLAUNCHЯ SERVICE also stops both controls. These actions do not remove the ADB permission grant.
Turn ADB Debugging off after setup. The permission grant is broad; only grant it to an APK you trust. The Home redirect does not remove or replace Amazon’s launcher.
- Fire OS behavior varies by device and firmware. Amazon Home may appear briefly, and Fire OS may not deliver a Menu hold to apps. If a control behaves badly, open TVApplaunchЯ from Apps and turn it off; do not depend on the redirect as your only way to reach device settings.
- Fire OS 6 and Vega OS cannot use these Fire controls. Do not use the Android TV Launcher Manager instructions as a substitute.
