Troubleshoot APK installation and parse errors

Check the source APK, install permission, Android version, and app signature without risking the local setup already on the TV.

  1. If Android cannot open or parse the APK

Download the APK again from https://tvapplaunchr.com/downloads/TVApplaunchr.apk or use the official /install instructions. Open the downloaded APK with a TV-compatible file manager and confirm Android offers an install prompt.

The currently hosted sideload release is version 1.3.28 and requires Android 6.0 or newer. If the TV reports a parse or compatibility error after a fresh official download, record the exact message and the TV model and Android version for support.

  2. If Android says installation is blocked

Allow Install unknown apps for the app that opened the APK, such as Downloader, Squiffix, or the file manager. Return to the package prompt and select Install. Menu names differ across TV models.

Once installation is complete, you can turn that app’s unknown-source permission off. Do not enable unrelated permissions to solve an APK install prompt.

  3. If an update reports a signing or compatibility error

An update-incompatible or signing error means the installed app and update do not have matching signing certificates. Do not uninstall the installed app to force an update: uninstalling deletes its local settings and layout.

Stop and request an update signed with the original key, using /support if needed. Install only a replacement from the official source that matches the existing installation.

Good to know
  • Do not share an APK or activation code publicly while asking for help. Include the exact Android error, app version, TV model, and Android / Fire OS version instead.
