Use a font, rename an app, or set its icon
Upload Android-TV-compatible font files and select a built-in font or a static icon for an individual app box.
Upload a supported font
Open the “Assets” tab and choose an image, video, or font. Font uploads must be TTF or OTF and are subject to the 50 MiB asset-upload limit.
Do not upload WOFF2 for TV use: the website accepts only the listed TTF/OTF font types here, and WOFF2 cannot render on Android TV.
Select a TV font in the layout
Return to “Layout”. In the “Your screen’s look” section, use the “Type on TV” selector.
Choose “System”, “Serif”, “Monospace”, or “Condensed” under Built-in fonts, or choose one of your uploaded fonts. An uploaded font takes priority over built-in fonts.
Choose “Keep current TV font” to leave the selected font unset. Selecting a built-in font clears the uploaded-font choice; leaving both unset keeps the current TV font.
Choose an icon for one app box
Select the app box in the visual preview. In its inspector, find “Custom static icon for this app box” and select a PNG, JPEG, or WebP image from your library.
The selected image applies to this placement only. It does not change the app package, row style, or other placements. Choose “Use app icon” to clear the override and restore the app’s normal icon.
The included artwork section offers generic category artwork, not a promise of an official app logo. Choose “Add & use” to copy that art to your library and use it for the selected box.
Save and send only when ready
App names are edited in the selected box inspector under “Name shown on your TV Home”. Choose “Use name” to set a custom name, or “Use original” to clear it.
Font and app-label choices remain draft changes until you choose “Save website layout”. On the currently hosted sideload APK 1.3.28, open Settings → “DEVICE SYNC” → “WEBSITE SYNC & BACKUP”, choose “CHECK STUDIO UPDATES”, review the saved layout, and choose “APPLY TO THIS TV” only if you want it. Older installed sideload APK 1.3.27 uses “DOWNLOAD SAVED STUDIO LAYOUT”; the Play edition may differ.
- Font files and images are account assets, not part of the TV’s local files. A TV-origin layout backup does not transfer TV-local font or wallpaper files.
- Selecting an uploaded font or icon does not send it to a TV immediately.
